How the Auction Works
$30 Salary Cap
- • Each team gets $30 per season
- • Contracts count against the cap for every year
- • Example: $10 × 3 years = $10 off your cap each of those 3 seasons
- • Your money is reserved when you bid and returned if you're outbid
Open Bidding
- • All players are available to bid on at the same time
- • Whole numbers only — $1, $2, $3, etc.
- • If you're winning a player, you cannot bid against yourself
- • Get outbid? You can bid again
Player Tiers
- • Players are split into tiers
- • Top players close earlier than the rest
- • This lets you know how much cap you have left before the rest of free agency ends
Winning Players
- • Highest bid when the auction closes wins
- • You can temporarily win more than 3 players
- • After auctions close, you are required to become roster and cap-compliant before contracts are finalized
- • If you pass on a player, the system gives the next-highest bidder a chance to get them at their original bid

Note: Points are awarded based on player statistics tracked throughout the NBA regular season. Each category is calculated independently and summed to determine each team's total score.
